RiverRenew Work at Pendleton Street

A cleaner Potomac is on the way!

1. RiverRenew begins digging the vertical shaft at the end of Pendleton Street after Thanksgiving. This will result in up to 70 trucks a day hauling dirt for 3-4 months. The dirt is not hazardous, but may contain very small amount of contaminants. The trucks will be covered before they depart the construction site.

2. In mid-January, pile driving begins at the Pendleton site for 3-4 months during weekdays between 9am and 6pm. This involves driving 250 steel beams into the ground to a depth of ~100. These pilings will provide support for the small park on the southern side of Oronooco Bay. Some noise below 75 decibels may result near some residences. The construction crews are making efforts to mitigate sound.

3. The horizontal boring machine “Hazel” began boring the connecting tunnel from the water treatment plant. So far it has advanced about 35 feet.
